Was Out In the Rain

Diarmuid Breatnach

(Written on a day like today, many years ago.)

Was out in the rain, got soaked to the skin;

Cursing and swearing as I got in;

Snarling and snapping like an aligator,

Hung clothes to dry on radiator.

And was struck by shame

To hear newsreader say

That a trawler went down

With entire crew

From that same storm

That had soaked me through.

end.
